Emma

Emma Goswell is your Host on Coming Out stories.

Emma began her broadcasting career in 2002 working for a string of commercial radio stations as a broadcast journalist before joining the BBC as a news reader and producer.

She then turned her hand to presenting – co-hosting the Gaydio breakfast show for 5 years between 2013 and 2018 and again in 2020.

She now hosts ‘The Weekend Outing’ on Virgin Radio Pride as well as presenting cover shows for BBC radio Manchester.

She also worked for National Prison Radio for three years, setting up the first radio station in a women’s prison in the UK and earnt a Sony award for her documentary work with the prisoners at HMP Styal.

She’s been lucky enough to speak to LGBT+ people from all over the world since the Podcast launched but is always keen to find new people to tell their story.

Emma lives in Didsbury, Manchester with her long suffering plants but she can quite often be found hanging out in Rochdale with her girlfriend and a Labrador named after a Gaelic footballer.

Sam Walker is your producer on Coming Out Stories. 
 
She has worked in radio and podcasting for more than twenty years, from local and commercial radio to the BBC, where she spent nearly ten years presenting on BBC Radio 5Live. In 2007, she set up What Goes On Media to work with other presenters and producers and make great audio content for radio and podcasts and since then she has worked with some brilliant people from all over the word,  making shows about pretty much every subject you can think of!  In 2019, she left the BBC, left her friends, Manchester and lots of her family and moved to the desert, in Phoenix Arizona.  You can hear all about what it’s like to up sticks ad change your life in her award-winning podcast Sam Walker’s Desert Diaries.
 
She lives with her husband, two daughters, two dogs, two cats, seven fish and a lizard.  Her house is a mess.
